Studies in the field of scattering of particles of different kinds have been among the main methods of research by which one would be able to understand the real nature of matter and radiation better. Particularly in the micro-world the relativistic quantum mechanical scattering has attracted much attention for long.NEWLINENEWLINENEWLINEHere the authors have treated in detail the topological problems of relativistic quantum mechanical scattering on a cone of a bosonic spin-zero particle by an idealized, infinite, straight cosmic string. The non-minimal covariant coupling between the bosonic field and the scalar curvature is used. Next, the scattering of a charged particle, taking into account its repulsive, induced self-interaction, is considered. For the idealized cosmic string, an effective delta-function interaction takes place apart from the usual topological scattering itself. It is shown that in this case the dimensionless coupling parameter has to be suitably renormalized for making the problem consistent.NEWLINENEWLINENEWLINEStandard forms of the Klein-Gordon equation, line element and natural units are employed in the paper while emphasizing the topological features of the spacetime under consideration. | |||
