This paper treats the global rigidity question for compact complex surfaces that are quotients of \(D\times D\), where D is the unit disk in the complex plane. It is shown that any other surface which is homotopically equivalent to such a quotient has to be a quotient of \(D\times D\) itself. This in particular implies strong rigidity in the irreducible case.
