The notions of 2-uniform convexity and smoothness from the geometry of Banach spaces are extended to Finsler spaces in order to obtain comparison theorems. A main tool is the flag curvature and as application the almost everywhere second order differentiability of semi-convex and \(c\)-concave functions is established.
