The main aim of the reviewed book is to develop a methodological basis for regional development. In chapter 1, the notion of ``regional development'' is analyzed together with factors determining this development. The indicators taken into account are discussed. Classical methods of regional development analysis are presented in chapter 2. Applications of vector calculus methods to methodology of regional development analysis are described in chapter 3. Chapter 4 contains the description and results of research carried out by means of the suggested methods. Chapter 5 is devoted to the problem of computer systems supporting the regional development analysis. The empirical research is related to Polish counties as a case study. The methods presented above can be used in a wide variety of regional studies.
