The notion of a Courant algebroid was introduced by Liu, Weinstein and Xu. In this paper, the authors consider a Courant algebroid \(q\) and show that the lifted structure of \(q\) to \(Tq\) gives a Courant algebroid on the tangent bundle \(Tq\). It is then proved that this Courant algebroid generalizes the notion of tangent algebroid, given by Machenzie and Xu.
