The paper deals with the Cauchy problem for a nonlinear integro-partial differential equation on a positive half-line. The considered equation is a model of relaxation phenomena. The authors prove the existence of solutions for a particular class of initial data, and also prove that the solutions are unique. Moreover, under additional constraints on the initial data, an explicit expression for the solution is given.
