The main result of the present paper states a weakly closed Jordan ideal \(J\) of a nest algebra on a Banach space is an ideal. Some other properties of \(J\) are also established. For example, every operator in \(J\) of rank \(n\) is a sum of \(n\) rank one operators in \(J\).
