Random fuzzy theory has been introduced originally by \textit{H. Kwakernaak} [Inf. Sci. 15, 1--29 (1978; Zbl 0438.60004)] and \textit{M. L. Puri} and \textit{D. A. Ralescu} [J. Math. Anal. Appl. 114, 409--422 (1986; Zbl 0592.60004)]. Another approach is used by \textit{B. Liu} [Theory and practice of uncertain programming. Heidelberg: Physica-Verlag (2002; Zbl 1029.90084)] which is based on credibility measures and which formally allows more ``probability-like'' investigations. The authors apply Liu's approach to fuzzy alternating renewal processes and prove a theorem on the limit value of the average chance of the event that a system under consideration is deemed working at a given time.
