The author applies the generalized Schwarzian derivative to the solution of problems on the softness or stiffness of period doubling bifurcations of limit cycle and the generation of an invariant torus from a limit cycle. As an application, the author deals with the softness of the bifurcation of the generation of an invariant torus from a limit cycle in a system with two related van der Pol oscillators.
