Summary: We give two simple proofs of a conjecture of \textit{Richard Stanley} [see ''Alternating permutations and symmetric functions,'' J. Comb. Theory, Ser. A 114, No.\,3, 436--460 (2007; Zbl 1118.05002)] concerning the equidistribution of derangements and alternating permutations with the maximal number of fixed points.
