The paper is devoted to the proof of the following theorem. Given a \(q(\geq 0)\)-connected complex manifold \(M\) of complex dimension \(m\geq 2\), the complement of any compact subset \(K\) of \(M\) admitting a system of Stein open neighborhoods is \(\min\{ q,m-2\}\)-connected.
