Consider the boundary value problem \[ -u''=\lambda m(x)f(u),\;0<x<1,\quad u(0)=u(1)=0,\tag{*} \] where \(\lambda\) is a positive parameter, \(m\) is piecewise continuous and changes sign. The author establishes the existence of positive solutions of (*) under suitable conditions on \(f\).
