\textit{A.~S.~Fokas} [Proc.~R.~Soc.~Lond., Ser.~A 453, No.~1962, 1411--1443 (1997; Zbl 0876.35102)] has introduced a new method for analyzing initial-boundary value problems for linear and integrable nonlinear partial differential equations (PDEs). Now it is shown how this method can be used for getting semi-analytical numerical methods for solving evolution and elliptic PDE's.
