Summary: The timely repositioning of a long-range weapon, such as missiles, is crucial to attack moving targets. This paper proposes a stochastic model where Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) are utilised to aid a battery of long-range weapons in acquiring moving targets, assessing their battle damage, and incorporating such information into the repositioning. A closed-form expression for the time-dependent state probabilities of the system is developed, which is used to estimate several important combat measures: \(\bullet\) the time-varying mean and variance of the number of surviving UAVs and surviving enemy targets \(\bullet\) the mission success and failure rate and the probability of a combat draw \(\bullet\) the mean and variance of the combat duration time.
