The authors study reflection properties of different types of linear waves, which include quantum Schrödinger waves, and electromagnetic and acoustic waves, as they propagate in layered media. Coefficients of reflection and transmission are obtained for several basic state configurations from the corresponding one-dimensional wave equations utilizing the evolution matrix method and other direct methods.
