The authors use finite element and discontinuous Galerkin (DG) methods to investigate the numerical solution of neutral-type Volterra integro differential equations with weakly singular kernels. A DG time stepping method for the semi discretized equation with fully discretized form is discussed. By defining a suitable Ritz Volterra projection operator a priori error estimates for the finite element method semi-discretization of the discussed problem is given.
