The author investigates the existence of positive eigenvalues yielding nonnegative or positive solutions to an integral equation by employing a Guo-Krasnoselskii theorem in cones. The Guo-Krasnoselskii theorem used in this study proves itself to be a powerful tool in the investigation of the eigenvalue problem presented in this article. The results are applied to a variety of boundary value problems concerning ordinary differential equations.
