The author looks at slit discs which are simply connected domains obtained from the unit disc by a certain stipulated finite number of radial cuts. The paper employs a new relationship between essential supports of measures with periodic Verblunsky parameters and these slit discs. The main result of the paper, using Schur's algorithm, shows that the essential supports of periodic measures are the inverse images under standard conformal mappings of the circular parts of the boundaries of rationally placed slit discs.
