The authors prove the positivity of the weight for the generalized Gauss-Radau and Gauss-Lobatto formulae [\textit{W. Gautschi}, BIT 44, No.~4, 711--720 (2004; Zbl 1076.65023)]. As a consequence, they obtain several convergence theorems for these quadrature formulas.
