A mathematical model that hopefully describes the glucose-induced electrical activity of pancreatic \(\beta-\)cells is investigated in this paper. Tools from symbolic dynamics for a one-dimensional associated map are used. Different chaotic regimes are presented. Finally, ideas from control theory are applied to the model.
