This book addresses numerical methods for PDE-constrained optimization problems with special emphasis on two application areas, namely, parameter identification in multi-phase flows through porous media, and aerodynamic shape optimization. The book initially presents a derivation of PDEs which model fluid flows, and then discusses PDE-constrained optimization problems. Numerical examples are given for illustration.
