\textit{K. Kearnes} and \textit{Á. Szendrei} [Algebra Univers. 54, No.~1, 23--52 (2005; Zbl 1114.20014)] posed the problem whether the clone of term operations on a group \(G\) is uniquely determined by the compatible ternary relations on \(G\). For the analogous problem with ``primitive positive clone'' instead of ``clone of term operations'', the answer ist affirmative when \(G\) is finite, as follows from the present result: If \(A\) is a finite groupoid with identity, the compatible ternary relations on \(A\) uniquely determine the primitive positive clone on \(A\).
