The authors study the transonic shock problem when a supersonic flow goes through a 2-D curved nozzle with a straight divergent part and a smooth convergent part. The gas is considered to be isentropic, but the results can be applied to non-isentropic case also. The flow is described by steady (i.e. time-independent) Euler system. The pressure at the exit of the nozzle is variable. Existence and uniqueness of the shock solution is established provided that the exit pressure differs from a constant not too much.
