The author defines Sobolev spaces with asymptotics which are isomorphic to the direct sum of the corresponding Sobolev spaces for arbitrary values of their indices. Then the equation \([(r\;\partial /\partial r)^2 +c^2 (\partial ^2/ \partial \phi ^2)] u(r,\phi ) =h(r,\phi )\) is studied in these spaces.
