In this paper a unifying construction of a diffeomorphism with a one-dimensional expanding attractor is described; the restriction of a diffeomorphism to this attractor is conjugate to a special shift of the inverse limit of an expanding linear map of the circle. Examples of such diffeomorphisms are next presented.
