The distances between surfaces which result from subdivision processes and their control polygons are investigated in this article. Bounds on the decay of the error between surface and polygon are established which allow to verify popular prediction methods for the aforementioned distance. Both sharp bounds and upper estimates are given in different cases. This is an important issue in implementations because it checks the approximation of the desired surface. Practical examples and generalizations are provided too.
