Finite dimensional approximation of bifurcation problems in presence of symmetries (Q1057045)

We study the approximation of nonlinear equations in a neighbourhood of a bifurcation point of multiplicity two, in presence of symmetries. Under a fairly general approximation condition which preserves the symmetry properties of the problem, we define a discrete problem whose solutions are described precisely and we state sharp error estimates between the branches of exact and approximate solutions.
