Let G be a compact simple Lie group and \(\pi\) : \(G\to B\) a Riemannian submersion with connected totally geodesic fibres. The paper classifies such objects and the main theorem states that in such a situation, there exists a closed connected subgroup H such that \(\pi\) is congruent to \(G\to G/H\).
