We consider the diagnosis of continuous systems by means of identification methods, which pinpoint fairly arbitrary faults in the system up to some fragment of the system model. A mechanism is proposed for partitioning the set of diagnosed model fragments into equivalence classes and some partitioning criteria are proposed.
