We consider the problem of the essential self-adjointness of a general second-order elliptic operator with constant leading coefficients and an infinite number of variables, this problem is directly connected with the problems considered earlier for an infinite-dimensional Schrödinger type operator and is a natural extension of these problems. Problems in constructive field theory have led to an interest in the study of similar classes of operators.
