In the present paper, a generalization analogous to \textit{M. J. Ablowitz} and \textit{H. Segur}, Stud. Appl. Math. 62, 249-262 (1980; Zbl 0447.76013) is made for waves in a liquid of finite depth in the case of a two-layer liquid. We obtain a weakly non-one-dimensional equation for a liquid of finite depth and use it to investigate the stability of solitons with respect to bending.
