An analytical investigation is presented for the purpose of determining the steady-state characteristics and stability thresholds of a closed two-phase thermosyphon. The analytical model is based on a lumped parameter description of the system that includes the thermohydraulics of vapor core, liquid film, and liquid pool of the evaporator. The steady- state solutions and the linear stability analysis of the governing equations revealed the existence of two operating limits: one associated with flooding and the other with drying of the liquid in the evaporator.
