Über das Goursat-Problem für quasilineare hyperbolische Systeme partieller Differentialgleichungen erster Ordnung mit zwei unabhängigen Variablen (Q1058675)

This paper is the first part of a detailed study of the mixed problem for quasilinear hyperbolic systems of the first order in two variables. The author begins with a discussion of the boundary conditions and the necessary compatibility conditions. The second step is the reduction of the original system to a (larger) system which has diagonal form. Appropriate initial boundary conditions then give a new problem which is equivalent to the original one. For this new problem existence of solutions will be proved in the second paper.
