The author presents existence and uniqueness results on solutions of a certain homogeneous boundary value problem for the following third order linear partial differential equation in a bounded cylindrical domain \({\mathbb{R}}^ n_ x\times {\mathbb{R}}^ 1_ t:\) \((k(x,t)u_{tt}+Au-Bu)_ t+Cu+a(x,t)u_{tt}+b(x,t)u_ t=f(x,t),\) where k,a,b and f are given functions, A, B and C are t-dependent possibly degenerate second order elliptic differential operators of x.
