In fully developed fluidized beds, the particle motion plays an over- riding important role in heat transfer process. In consideration of this fact, a new model is developed to describe the heat transfer between fluidized beds and immersed surfaces, based on the definition of a two- phase thermal boundary layer around the surface. The subsequent correlations of the maximum heat transfer coefficient and the optimum flow-rate are obtained. They agree well over a wide range of conditions with the data reported in the literature.
