In this paper the authors studied the response of a specific magneto- atmosphere to a localized forcing, in terms of the distribution of wave energy propagating outward from the forcing region to distances large compared to the dimensions of the forcing region. This asymptotic technique was initiated by \textit{M. J. Lighthill} [Philos. Trans. R. Soc. Lond., A 252, 397-430 (1960; Zbl 0097.208)] within the context of magnetohydrodynamic wave motions, but in this paper it is employed in astrophysics for the first time. In section 4 the wave number surfaces are illustrated for a number of wave periods and parameter values and in section 5 the far-field solution is constructed for a variety of surfaces.
