The author continues his previous works [ibid. 2, 485-497 (1974; Zbl 0271.50005), ibid., 349-370 (1973; Zbl 0271.50004) and Math. Nachr. 67, 265-272 (1975; Zbl 0309.50003)] and extends the second phase of the Bachmann's program on the foundation of metric geometry to the arbitrary (even infinite) dimensional case. Namely, a group theoretical foundation is developed for metric geometries in general.
