Twisted products and projective representations of monomial groups (Q1060286)

The authors announce their proofs by more modern methods, that is, Hopf algebra techniques, of I. Schur's well known work on the projective representations of symmetric and alternating groups of degree n, \(S_ n\) and \(A_ n\). In fact, they extend the results to the monomial groups \(G\wr S_ n\) and \(G\wr A_ n\), where G is a finite group - although it should be emphasized that in this general case, projective representations are only obtained for one class of factor sets.
