This paper is devoted to the existence of the separation point of the flow in the Prandtl boundary layer problem. By assuming that the initial data, the exterior speed and the pressure gradient satisfy some restrictive conditions, using some results due to \textit{O. A. Oleinik} [Zh. Vychisl. Mat. Mat. Fiz. 3, 489-507 (1963; Zbl 0146.233)], the authors give two theorems on the existence and non-existence of the separation points in a certain sense. The results are compared with the classical Blasius solution.
