Bending of corner-supported rectangular plate under concentrated load (Q1061554)

The solution for the bending of corner-supported rectangular plate under concentrated loads at any point (a/2,\(\eta)\) of the middle line of the plate is given by means of a conception called modified simply supported edges and the method of superposition. A numerical example is presented. The solution obtained by this method compares well with that obtained by \textit{C. T. Shih} [Math. Numer. Sin. 1, 50-72 (1979; Zbl 0452.73062)] by means of the spline finite element method when \(\eta =d/2\).
