The problem of contact between a linear elastic body and elastic and rigid bodies (A variational approach) (Q1062524)

The first part of the paper is devoted to the poblem of contact between a linear elastic body and a rigid one. The solution follows from a variational inequality, equivalent to the problem of minimizing the energy in the set of admissible displacements. The author establishes the regularity of the solution and constructs a measure which enables the characterization of the effect of the stamp on the elastic body. In a similar manner he examines the problem of contact of two elastic bodies. No numerical applications are given.
