Two samples are drawn from two independently evolving populations some time after their split from a base population. Assuming that the genetic divergence is influenced only by neutral mutation and drift, the paper provides analytical formulas and numerical examples for the probability distribution of the allele frequencies in the samples, the number of common alleles and the probability that the sample are monomorphic.
