The asymptotic solution of the Navier-Stokes equations in the problem of hypersonic flow at large distances behind a body of finite size is studied. The principal term of the expansion for the perturbation of the longitudinal velocity component in the region of the trace, decaying exponentially in the direction of the outer boundary of the trace, is derived.
