This article examines the stress state which develops when the end of a symmetrically loaded orthotropic semi-infinite strip is supported on an orthotropic infinite strip. Both smooth and bonded contact between the strips are considered. By using Fourier transforms the problem is reduced to a system of singular integral equations. The dependence of the order of the stress singularity on the orthotropic properties of the materials is investigated. Numerical solutions are presented for the contact stresses corresponding to different loadings and material properties.
