Bifurcation studies in reaction-diffusion. II (Q1064457)

[For part I, see ibid. 11, 27-37 (1984; Zbl 0555.65073]. The paper studies the bifurcation of the solution \(u=a\) of the reaction- diffusion problem \[ u_ t=u_{xx}+u(l-u)(u-a),\quad 0<a<,\quad u(- L,t)=u(L,t)=a, \] where the length L is the bifurcation parameter and a is fixed. The first few terms of the power series expansion of the bifurcating branch are found analytically and a numerical spectral method is used to investigate experimentally the stability of the solutions.
