Solutions to Yang-Mills field equations in eight dimensions and the last Hopf map (Q1064599)

The authors show that the Hopf map \(S^{15}\to^{S^ 7}S^ 8\) admits a sourceless, topological non-trivial gauge field. This result is cast in the form of a solution to eight-dimensional Yang-Mills field equations with topological charge \(Q=1\). The authors point out that by their approach a logarithmical singularity for the action will arise, however in an erratum to their paper they sketch how to overcome these difficulties.
