The following result is well known: The existence of Steiner systems S(2,k,v) and \(S(2,k,1+k(k-1))\) (i.e. a projective plane of order k-1) imply the existence of \(S(2,k;1+v(k-1)).\) The author gives a geometric exposition of this result.
