A difference scheme of exponential type, derived earlier by the author [ibid. 43, 175-198 (1984; Zbl 0565.65044)] for solving a nonlinear singular perturbation problem is analysed. The scheme is not of monotone type. It is shown that this scheme produces a unique solution that converges to the correct solution in \(L^ 1\) sense for all values of \(\epsilon\).
