The following correction of the authors' paper [ibid. 57, 41--56 (1984; Zbl 0539.15009)] is given: The lower bound for the eigenvalues of the Jordan product \(AB+BA\), where \(A\), \(B\) are Hermitian and positive definite, given by \textit{W. G. Strang} [Am. Math. Mon. 69, 37--40 (1962; Zbl 0101.25401)] is best possible.
