Structural algebras were defined by \textit{B. N. Allison} [Math. Ann. 237, 133-156 (1978; Zbl 0368.17001)]. The author defines a certain type of bimodule for such an algebra, which he calls a structurable bimodule and uses such bimodules to prove the uniqueness of the Wedderburn decomposition for finite-dimensional structurable algebras of characteristic zero. His investigation of structurable algebras is also used to obtain new proofs of some earlier results on alternative algebras.
